The course will be practical and fun and will give participants the chance to learn and practice basic First Aid skills to deal with a variety of emergencies they may face during the Australian summer, including how to:

  • Provide Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Help someone who is having an Asthma attack
  • Recognise the signs of Anaphylaxis and use an Epipen
  • Be safe around swimming pools – safe swimming rules and what to do in the event of a drowning incident
  • Stay safe at the beach – why should I swim between the flags and how to spot a rip tide
  • Treat stings and bites – from a bee to a bull shark, what are the best treatments for these summer nasties?
  • Burns – Too much sun or too close to the BBQ; learn how to provide First Aid for burns that will help prevent pain and reduce long term skin damage
